Everton want Oleksandr Zinchenko and view the Manchester City ace as a midfielder rather than a left back moving forward.
The Toffees don’t have a huge budget to work with at the moment and Frank Lampard will have to be creative.
Everton are closing in on one signing with defender James Tarkowski set to arrive on a free transfer from Burnley.
There are more targets in mind for Lampard with Manchester City ace Zinchenko one of their prime targets.
Everton want Oleksandr Zinchenko
The Athletic reported last weekend that Arsenal are interested in Zinchenko but their pursuit isn’t quite as strong as Everton’s.
Everton appear to be very keen on luring Zinchenko to Goodison Park, reuniting him with Ukraine teammate Vitaliy Mykolenko.
The pursuit left some confused though; Mykolenko as only signed in January and is viewed as Everton’s left back of the future.
Surely Zinchenko, his international teammate, wouldn’t be signed so quickly to replace him?
That doesn’t seem to be the plan with Goal now claiming that Everton want to play Zinchenko in midfield.
Zinchenko has spent so long playing at left back for Manchester City that it’s easy to forget his natural position.

Zinchenko joined City from Ufa in 2016 and arrived as a creative midfielder.
Pep Guardiola moved Zinchenko to left back and he has performed admirably in that role for the Premier League champions.
Yet with City now chasing Marc Cucurella, Zinchenko is seemingly available this summer and Everton are ready to pounce.
The vision is for Zinchenko to go back to playing in midfield, just as he does for Ukraine with such aplomb.
Zinchenko was superb in that role against Scotland earlier this month and Graeme Souness called him ‘really, really good’ as a midfielder.
Everton want to lure Zinchenko to Merseyside to play in that role moving forward – something Arsenal may not be able or willing to offer.
