As fans countdown to episode 12 of Tomodachi Game, we breakdown the chances of season 2 going into production at Okuruto Noboru.
How much is friendship really worth? Well, according to Tomodachi Game, only about $20,000.
The anime series has been one of the surprise hits of the 2022 Spring slate, with its darker storyline and themes proving to be a sticking point for many fans around the world. The series is about to reach its season finale on Crunchyroll but as one door closes, another opens.
Tomodachi Game has not yet been renewed for season 2, but fans can be confident that there is plenty of source material available if Studio Okuruto Noboru is to produce a second priceless round.

Tomodachi Game season 2: Renewal status
As previously noted, Tomodachi Game has not yet been publicly renewed for season 2 by Studio Okuruto Noboru; however, the good news is that there is plenty of source material left to be adapted for the anime series.
Per reports online, the season 1 finale will conclude by adapting roughly up until chapter 25 of the sixth manga volume.
The good news is that as of June 21st, a total of 20 complete Tankobon volumes have been published in Japan, meaning that there is potentially enough source material for three TV anime seasons.
The anime adaptation should also prove popular enough to merit a second season being produced. The series is currently scoring a 7.5/10 on IMDB, 72% on AniList, 3.9/5 on Anime Planet and 7.51/10 on MyAnimeList, with over 36,000 reviews and 172,000 members.
“I started the anime and expected a trashy story about teenagers doing some games with little twists. But its way better. The first Episode is good but the real fun begins with episode number 2. The show is more evil than I expected and there are a lot of twists.” – User gandalf-36890, via IMDB.
The only problem is that the TV adaptation didn’t particularly boost the sales of the original manga series, which can often be a frustratingly important part of anime renewals. However, Studio Okuruto Noboru currently doesn’t have any future projects announced, having previously only produced The Hidden Dungeon Only I can Enter by themselves.
If Tomodachi Game is considered to be successful enough to warrant season 2, considering both the availability of source material and the likely incentive for Okuruto Noboru to continue production, fingers crossed that a renewal is announced in the following months.
New live-action drama announced
The good news is that more Tomodachi Game content is in the works, in the form of a brand new live-action TV adaptation.
A four-episode series was broadcast in 2017, with two live-action films both of which premiered in the same year. However, it has just been announced that a new live-action adaptation called Tomodachi Game R4 will premiere on Japanese network TV Asahi on July 23rd.
