Taiwo Awoniyi appears Nottingham Forest-bound this summer and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp remains a big fan of the Union Berlin striker.
Forest have been linked with a raft of new signings ever since securing promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs.
From Morgan Gibbs-White to Dean Henderson and even Moussa Niakhate, Forest appear to be chasing some major reinforcements.
A striker is a prime target for Forest with loanee Keinan Davis now returning to Aston Villa, and it looks like Steve Cooper is focusing on Awoniyi.
Taiwo Awoniyi appears Nottingham Forest-bound
The Telegraph report that Awoniyi is closing in on a move from Union Berlin to Nottingham Forest.
It’s suggested that Forest are in advanced talks to secure a £17.5million deal for Awoniyi this summer.
Awoniyi is now expected to join Forest and finally play in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old signed for Liverpool from the Imperial Soccer Academy back in 2015.
However, Awoniyi never made his first-team debut for Liverpool because he didn’t qualify for a work permit in England.
That resulted in seven different loan spells with FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Mouscron, Gent, Mouscron again, Mainz and finally Union Berlin.

Union pounced to sign Awoniyi permanently last summer and that proved to be a masterstroke, with the Nigerian bagging 15 goals in 31 games.
Awoniyi now qualifies for a work permit having become a key international for Nigeria and Forest are ready to sign him.
What will encourage Forest fans is that Liverpool boss Klopp allegedly believes Awoniyi can make a huge impact in the Premier League and is still a huge admirer of the striker.
That’s included in that Telegraph report with Klopp clearly a big fan of Awoniyi.
Klopp also spoke highly of Cooper and Forest last season, so the Liverpool boss may actually feel that Awoniyi is making the perfect move this summer.
