Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are ‘growing in confidence’ that they will sign Tottenham Hotspur target Raheem Sterling from Manchester City in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The Athletic are reporting this afternoon (3:47pm) that Chelsea are confident that they will compete the signing of the former Liverpool attacking midfielder this summer.

The report has claimed that Sterling, who can also operate as a winger, ‘has been talking to people about what life is like at Chelsea and what Thomas Tuchel is like as a manager, and one source at the club believes the only stumbling block to a deal being completed is the size of the fee’.

Sterling cost Manchester City an initial £44 million in transfer fees when they signed him rom Liverpool in 2015 (The Athletic).

Chelsea over Tottenham Hotspur for Raheem Sterling

In our view, Chelsea are a more appealing club than Tottenham Hotspur for Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.

Sterling is used to winning the Premier League title and competing in the UEFA Champions League with City.

Chelsea challenge for the top honours on a regular basis, while Tottenham are unlikely to compete for the Premier League title next season or the year after.

Yes, Tottenham have a world-class manager in Antonio Conte now, but the North London club are unlikely to win the Champions League next season.

Sterling has scored 109 goals and created 74 big chances in 320 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
