Takumi Minamino leaving Liverpool looks a matter of time.
The Japan international has been linked with a departure to Leeds United this summer but there hasn’t been any concrete speculation about a transfer to Elland Road for a couple of weeks.
These days, it’s looking probable that the Liverpool attacker is heading abroad and it was reported by The Times on Friday that Lyon were interested in bringing him to France.
And although he seems set to move to Ligue 1, it isn’t to Lyon.
According to The Mirror, the reported Leeds target is actually joining Monaco from Liverpool.
The report claims that the 27-year-old winger’s agent has flown to Europe to broker his departure to the Principality outfit this summer.
The former Salzburg attacker is looking like the second Jurgen Klopp player on the cusp of leaving Anfield.
That’s because Sadio Mane is also set to leave Merseyside in favour of joining Bayern Munich this summer.
There’s no comparison between the two, with Mane obviously a much more important figure for Liverpool down the years.
Minamino joined Klopp’s side in December of 2019 but he has never been anything more than a squad player under the German – and one who spent the second half of the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Southampton, illustrating his lack of impact with the Reds.
Still, he would’ve been a good signing for Leeds and Victor Orta needs to start hunting other targets, it seems.
