According to Calciomercato, West Ham have made contact with Bordeaux as they aim to bring Ui-jo Hwang to the Premier League.
What’s the story?
Well, David Moyes is on the lookout for a new striker, with the Hammers still yet to replace Sebastien Haller, who left for Ajax in January 2021.
There is certainly an over-reliance on Michail Antonio in attack, and now, Moyes is seemingly keen to sign Hwang to help the Jamaica international.
Calciomercato believe West Ham have contacted the French side for information about the South Korea international, while Schalke 04 have also enquired.
Marseille and Nantes are also interested in the 29-year-old.
It comes after Hwang scored 11 goals in 32 Ligue 1 outings last season, a respectable tally.

The £25,000-a-week man also has an impressive record on the international scene when it comes to goalscoring.
Hwang has scored 15 goals for South Korea in 45 appearances, with the help of Heung-min Son up top.
West Ham could find a bargain in Ui-jo Hwang
In our view, this could be a shrewd bit of business for West Ham.
Calciomercato state that the South Korean becomes a free agent in June 2023, and after Bordeaux suffered relegation to Ligue 2, he has been allowed to leave.

Therefore, as a result of relegation and his contract situation, Hwang should be available for a relatively low sum.
Of course, at the age of 29, he wouldn’t carry much resale value for the Irons, but on the basis of his displays in Ligue 1, he could be a useful asset over the course of a demanding campaign – especially after West Ham secured Europa League football for another season.
Perhaps once a deal for Nayef Aguerd is finalised – an announcement could come as soon as Monday – West Ham will then turn their attention to the Bordeaux attacker.
