Leeds United have finally announced their third summer signing in the form of Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca – and the Spaniard has explained how Junior Firpo convinced him over a move to Elland Road.
Roca, 25, joins Leeds as the club’s third signing after Brenden Aaranson and Rasmus Kristensen. It comes after Roca had spent the last couple of seasons on the sidelines at Bayern, playing just 24 times.
Compared to the likes of Xabi Alonso and Liverpool’s Thiago, Roca does have a good reputation especially in Spain – where he has played over 100 times for Espanyol. He also has seven caps for Spain’s Under-21 side.

Speaking after penning a four-year contract at Elland Road, joining Leeds for a fee believed to be £10million, Roca told the club’s website of how Firpo sold him the club – and the stadium’s famous atmosphere.
“I have spoken with Junior Firpo, I played with him in the Spanish U21 national team, now it’s time to talk with Rodrigo and Diego Llorente as well. Then I can meet all my new teammates and I can’t wait to start playing!
“Junior told me it’s an incredible club with an amazing atmosphere in the stadium and that the teammates here are incredible, the locker room is incredible and for that I am very happy.”
Leeds have announced Roca: Firpo convinced him
While Roca will be joining Leeds for numerous reasons – the history, his time at Bayern, perhaps a wage rise – his comments regarding what Firpo has told him will come as unsurprising to those who know the club.
Leeds is a City of just one Premier League club and that benefits the Whites. It means the entire community have a family feel, and all pull together on matchday. Roca, like others, will be mesmerised when he makes his debut.
