There’s a decent chunk of Newcastle United transfer news going around at the minute – and now they’re interested in signing a rumoured Liverpool and Manchester City target.

Hugo Ekitike is reportedly set to join the Magpies and the move is ‘back on track‘ according to Fabrizio Romano.

In defence, Newcastle are also willing to pay £78 million to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla, Mundo Deportivo claimed on Wednesday afternoon.

Those are just two big-money transfers that the St James’s Park outfit could make this summer.

However, the club are now in talks to sign a different player and although he’s far less known, he’s an exciting prospect nonetheless.

At least, that’s what The Daily Mail are reporting, that Newcastle are in negotiations with Kilmarnock about signing Charlie McArthur.

At 17, McArthur is at the very beginning of his career but The Mail added that other clubs are also reportedly keen.

Back in December, it was reported by Football Scotland that Manchester City and Liverpool were keen on the teenage talent, labelled a ‘dream’ to manage by his coach Tommy Wright during the first half of last season.

Liverpool and Manchester City represent genuine threat to Newcastle, if they’re some of the ‘unnamed clubs’ interested in McArthur.

They’re two of the biggest clubs in the Premier League right now and no doubt the teenager could well be interested in such a transfer to Anfield or the Etihad.

That being said, Newcastle have a very exciting project of their own, following Saudi Public Investment Fund’s successful takeover on Tyneside in 2021 and the Magpies cannot be discounted.

According to Transfermarkt, McArthur is a centre-back.

It isn’t the most exciting piece of Newcastle United transfer news that supporters of the North-East outfit will come across this week, but beating Liverpool and the Sky Blues to a signing – providing they’re genuinely keen – is cause for celebration nonetheless.
