Speaking on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel, Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has been discussing Christian Eriksen and a potential return to Tottenham for the Dane.

Eriksen is set to become a free agent at the end of the month, and there are plenty of clubs in the race to sign him this summer.

Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United are keen, while Brentford, of course, want to keep him on west London.

According to Terreur, Eriksen wants to stay in London, and that may well give Tottenham the edge in the race to sign the former Inter Milan man.

What’s been said?

Terreur shared what he knows about Eriksen.

“As I was told by somebody, I can’t remember who I was told by, he wants to stay in London, so that’s a good thing for Spurs. There’s the emotional connection of course, he worked with Antonio Conte at Inter, but he struggled under Conte for the first few months. I don’t think Eriksen is the one they need right now because you have Harry Kane who drops into the space where Eriksen likes to operate, but Conte is a brilliant manager and if they sign him he will find a solution,” Terreur said.

Leading the race

If Eriksen wants to stay in London then Tottenham are surely leading the race for his signature.

With all due respect to Brentford, Spurs are a much bigger club, while the pull of a reunion with Antonio Conte also shouldn’t be underestimated either.

Given his Tottenham affiliations, it’s hard to imagine Eriksen joining either Arsenal or West Ham, while his Brentford association may also rule out Fulham or Chelsea.

That just leaves Crystal Palace, and they’ve not even been linked with the midfielder.

Eriksen may have to choose between Brentford and Spurs, and, in our view, that makes Tottenham favourites.
