Aston Villa are demanding around £4 million for Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan while holding talks with Trabzonspor regarding the Premier League forgotten man, as reported by Fotomac

Some players are just made for certain leagues. And Trezeguet obviously feels right at home in Turkey.

It was the winger’s electrifying performances at Kasimpasa that paved the way for a £9 million move to Aston Villa in of 2019, after all. And, returning to the Super Lig on loan in January, Trezeguet provided ten goals and assists in just 13 games for fourth-place Istanbul Basaksehir.

The Egyptian international is all-but certain to leave Villa Park on a permanent basis at some point over the summer. And, with just one year left on his contract, Fotomac believe that the Midland giants are ready to make a loss of around £5 million.

It is not Basaksehir, however, but Super Lig champions Trabzonspor who appear to be in pole position. The Black Sea club, after claiming their first domestic title since the 1980s, want Trezeguet to replace contract rebel Anthony Nwakaeme.

According to Fotomac, Trabzonspor have offered £3 million plus bonuses. Aston Villa want a little more, however, with talks expected to continue. A breakthrough is understood to be, if not imminent, then close with big updates expected this week.

What’s more, Trezeguet has reportedly have spoken to Trabzonspor coach Abdullah Avci via a video call, and is flattered by his interest.

Trezeguet’s agent is yet to speak out publicly about a potential move to Trabzon, though he did claim recently that reports saying the former Anderlecht forward had agreed a move to Besiktas were ‘completely false’

“I think (Gerrard) is still looking at his squad of players and deciding (who’s good enough),” says former Villa skipper Agbonlahor.

“He’s already (got rid of) Trezeguet and (Anwar) El Ghazi. He’s got players in that squad who he’s thinking; ‘you know what, don’t come back in pre-season’.”

Aston Villa have already signed Diego Carlos, Philippe Coutinho and Boubacar Kamara this summer, with a left-back next on Steven Gerrard’s wishlist.
