Jurassic World Dominion release date and plot preview

After several lengthy delays, Jurassic World Dominion finally stomped onto cinema screens in the US and UK on Friday, June 10th, 2022.

Set four years after the events of Fallen Kingdom and the destruction of Isla Nublar, Dominion finds humanity living alongside dinosaurs in a truly Jurassic world where illegal dinosaur trading runs rampant in the criminal underworld.

The fragile balance between humans and dinosaurs is threatened even further when the shady dealings of Lewis Dodgson come to the attention of Owen, Claire and returning Jurassic Park veterans Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm.

Who is Lewis Dodgson in Jurassic World Dominion?

Lewis Dodgson is the CEO of Biosyn in Jurassic World Dominion.

Biosyn is the long-standing rival of John Hammond’s company, InGen, and has spent decades employing shady methods in an effort to catch up on the dinosaur front.

Dodgson was introduced in the very first Jurassic Park film where he is seen bribing disgruntled computer scientist Dennis Nedry to steal dinosaur embryos for Biosyn, using a shaving foam can to smuggle out the illicit cargo.

In Michael Crichton’s sequel novel, The Lost World, Dodgson returns as the chief antagonist, but this was changed for the film adaptation.

Instead, fans would have to wait 29 years for Lewis Dodgson’s on-screen return in Dominion as he appears as the CEO of Biosyn and plans to use giant locusts from the Cretaceous period to devour global crop supplies in order to keep Biosyn the dominant force.

Following the global spread of dinosaurs, Biosyn has set up a sanctuary in Italy’s Dolomite Mountains where it gathers the escaped dinosaurs and provides the setting for the climax of the film.

Dodgson is played by a new actor in Dominion

In the original Jurassic Park, Dodgson was played by now-disgraced actor Cameron Thor who was convicted of sex offences in 2015.

This led to the role being recast with Campbell Scott taking up the role in the final instalment of the Jurassic World trilogy.

Scott brings a similar vibe to the role as we see from Apple’s Tim Cook, both in appearance and his no-nonsense work ethic.

But while Dodgson’s outward beliefs of caring for the escaped dinosaurs inspire a young workforce of the brightest and best minds, only those close enough to Dodgson know of his sinister motives.

Fans will likely recognise Campbell Scott from a host of roles across an impressive career including appearances in The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2 as Richard Parker, House of Cards, Damages as well as the films Rodger Dodger, Singles and Big Night.
