Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Joao Palhinha has told his Sporting Lisbon manager that he wants to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Record (print edition, page 13, June 13, 2022).

The Portuguese publication has reported that Wolves have an agreement in principle with Sporting over the transfer of Palhinha this summer for €20 million (£17.17m).

Palhinha, also linked with Antonio Conte’s Tottenham in the summer transfer window, has reportedly told Sporting manager Ruben Amorim that he wants to move to Wolves, according to the report.

Record (print edition, page 13, June 13, 2022) have added that Wolves are waiting for a potential exit for Ruben Neves before going through with the transfer of Palhinha.

Journal de Noticias reported in May that Tottenham were planning to make an opening bid for Palhinha.

Joao Palhinha’s Wolves stance blow for Tottenham Hotspur

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur are now set to miss out on Joao Palhinha to Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now, of course, we know that anything is possible when the transfer window is open, but it seems that the 26-year-old defensive midfielder is keen on a move to Wolves.

If Neves leaves Wolves this summer, then it will open up a spot in Bruno Lage’s starting lineup, and Palhinha could simply replace him in the starting lineup.

That is surely appealing to the Portugal international.
