According to Football Italia, Kalidou Koulibaly will not be signing a new contract with Napoli and he has now been placed up for sale by the Serie A club.
The Senegalese defender is reportedly on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar heading into this summer transfer window, and this update will likely put Spurs on red alert.
Indeed, the centre-halves current contract is expiring next summer, and with the defender refusing to extend his deal, Napoli are ready to cash in.
Koulibaly is a player that both Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici will know well. After all, he’s been a star in Serie A for a number of years now, and this could be Spurs’ time to strike.
Tottenham are looking to spend big on a new left-sided centre-back, and while Koulibaly, a right-footer, doesn’t quite fit that bill, he’d do a tremendous job in the role currently occupied by Eric Dier in the heart of Spurs’ defence.
Of course, whether or not Tottenham pursue this move remains to be seen, and even if they do, they will face competition.
Aston Villa and Newcastle have also been credited with an interest, and while those two can’t offer Champions League football, they have the financial might to compete with even the biggest teams on the planet.
After years of speculation, Koulibaly will finally be on the move this summer, and he very well could be on his way to the Premier League.
