The Times are reporting this evening (6pm) that Liverpool’s director of football, Julian Ward, is in Portugal to try to sign Darwin Nunez for the Anfield club for £60 million.
Ward is conducting ‘face-to-face discussions with Benfica’s key decision-makers, Rui Pedro Braz and Rui Costa’ over the transfer of Nunez to Liverpool, according to the report.

Benfica reportedly want an initial transfer fee of £68 million plus add-ons for the Uruguay international striker, but Liverpool want to pay £60 million.
The Times have added Nunez wants to join Liverpool, who are hopeful of getting a deal done, with Ward in control of negotiations.
Liverpool should get Darwin Nunez
In our view, Liverpool fans should not be worried about the situation regarding Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano had earlier reported that Liverpool were preparing the paperworks for Nunez.

Now, that sounds like negotiations are quite advanced.
It is only June 11 today, and we know that transfer deals take time.
We are not surprised that Liverpool are trying to lower the transfer fee they need to pay.
In our opinion, Liverpool will get Nunez.
Eventually.
