According to London World, Crystal Palace remain interested in bringing Marseille forward Bamba Dieng to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, the Eagles were keen to sign the 22-year-old in January, while West Ham also expressed an interest in the Senegal international.

It was also said that Newcastle made contact with the representatives of Dieng in January, but a deal never materialised.

Eventually, the Pikine-born striker stayed in France, where he scored eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions for Marseille last season.

Dieng also scored two goals in five outings at the Africa Cup of Nations, as Senegal lifted the trophy.

Now, Patrick Vieira wants the Marseille No.12 at Selhurst Park.

London World believe the Frenchman knows Dieng very well, and the attacker actually came through an Academy set up by Vieira in Senegal.

The south Londoners are also looking at Eddie Nketiah and Emmanuel Dennis, so it seems Crystal Palace have backup options in case another club swoops in.

In our view, it will be a two-horse race between Dennis and Dieng, as Nketiah seems to be closing in on a new contract at Arsenal.

Bamba Dieng could thrive at Crystal Palace

In our view, the foundations are there for Dieng – who has been compared to Sadio Mane – to excel in SE25.

He would have a manager who, as aforesaid, knows him well in Vieira, while he would also have an international colleague at the club as well in Cheikhou Kouyate.

Additionally, Vieira has already proven with the likes of Michael Olise and Tyrick Mitchell that he knows how to work with young talents, which bodes well for Dieng.

With players like Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze also in the frontline, Dieng should also experience few problems when it comes to having chances created for him.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen.
