When it comes to Paqueta and Newcastle, there has been – let’s call it what it is – flirting.
Paqueta has travelled to England to watch Bruno Guimaraes in action for Newcastle, and even visited the North East for the birthday of Guimares’ partner.
That may not sound all that interesting but Paqueta was then pictured having a kickabout with Guimaraes whilst wearing a Newcastle shirt.
Guimaraes himself has even admitted that he wants to see Paqueta join Newcastle.
There have been reports that Paqueta is already thinking about Newcastle and has been impressed with their fans.
To put it bluntly, many Newcastle fans are expecting to see Paqueta join the club this summer.
L’Equipe now claim that Lyon want to sell a number of players this summer and Paqueta is a main candidate.
Paqueta is allegedly keen to go and he will be available for around €60million (£51million).
It will then be up to Newcastle to decide whether to splash such a huge chunk of their budget on one player.
Newcastle do have money thanks to PIF, but they may want to spend gradually rather than go big for a player like Paqueta.
Seeing Paqueta and Guimaraes reunite at Newcastle would be hugely exciting and the door appears to be open for a summer deal – if Newcastle are willing to spend.
