Arsenal have been offered Manuel Akanji and his agents are convinced that Borussia Dortmund will drop their £21million asking price.
A centre back maybe isn’t the biggest need for Arsenal this summer as they focus on a new midfielder and a striker.
Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes enjoyed a promising first season together whilst William Saliba returns from his loan at Marseille this summer.
Add in Rob Holding and Arsenal seems well-covered, even if Pablo Mari does end up making a permanent move away this summer.
Mikel Arteta could still make a move though if the price is right, and Akanji is a name they need to consider.
Arsenal have been offered Manuel Akanji
The Sun report that Akanji has been told that he can leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The signings of Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck mean that Akanji is slipping down the pecking order.
With one year left on his contract, Dortmund want to sell Akanji now rather than see him go for nothing in 2023.
Akanji’s representatives are allegedly seeking a Premier League move and have picked out Arsenal as a potential destination.
Sport Bild did report in May that Arsenal are keen on Akanji.

The agents want to see Akanji join forces with Granit Xhaka having played together on the international stage with Switzerland.
Intriguingly, Akanji’s representatives also believe that Dortmund’s £21million asking price is ‘certain to drop’ in the near future.
Now put on a plate for Arsenal, the Gunners have to consider whether to take Akanji to North London.
A left-sided centre back to offer proper cover for Gabriel should be a priority, and whilst Akanji is decent on both feet, he isn’t predominantly left-footed.
That could mean that Arsenal ultimately say no, but other Premier League clubs will surely have a very close look.
