Speaking on Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Spurs and their interest in Torino defender Gleison Bremer.

Tottenham have been linked with Bremer for quite some time now, but unfortunately, Spurs don’t appear to be leading this transfer race.

Indeed, according to Romano, and many other reports, Bremer is edging closer and closer to joining Inter Milan as he’d rather stay in Italy, and now, a move to Tottenham would be very complicated for the Brazilian.

What’s been said?

Romano spoke about Bremer.

“I think for Bremer it is more than complicated. Fabio Paratici knows him so well, so for sure he’s a player that they’ve been following for a long time,” Romano said.

“For Bremer, I’m told that since January, Inter have had a verbal agreement since January ready with the player, so he wants to join Inter. He is happier in Italy, so everything is ready between Inter and Bremer, but not Inter and Torino. Inter are leading the race, but let’s see, we know how important it is to complete the negotiations, in the coming days we will understand more.”

Understandable

It’s understandable why Bremer wants to stay in Italy.

The centre-half knows the league well, his family are settled and Inter are a massive club.

However, there may be another reason for Bremer to want to stay in Serie A.

Indeed, the Brazilian-born defender is just a few months away from becoming an Italian citizen, and, much like Jorginho before him, that would allow him the chance to play for the Italian national team should he wish to.

Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci aren’t getting any younger, so the spot could be there for the taking for Bremer.

It’s hard to make a case for the defender picking Spurs over Inter.
