West Ham United and Leicester City have joined Everton in the race to bring Adrien Truffert to the Premier League from Rennes, as reported by L’Equipe.

A sudden change of agent usually means one thing and one thing alone.

And as Truffert became the latest client in Stellar’s mile-long roster, it felt only a matter of time before one of Ligue 1’s breakthrough stars was being tipped to follow in the footsteps of Eduardo Camavinga. Not necessarily all the way to Real Madrid, of course, but out of Roazhon Park.

Jonathan Barnett’s Stellar Group Agency were at the forefront of negotiations that took Camavinga from Rennes to Real last summer. They also have an excellent track record when it comes to securing big-money moves to Premier League clubs for their clients, whether it be Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea) or even Danny James (Leeds United).

Is Adrien Truffert heading to the Premier League?

And Truffert certainly isn’t lacking in admirers this side of the Channel.

“Everton interested (in me)? Yes, I was aware (of those reports),” the France U21 international admitted over the weekend. “Obviously, it’s flattering to have clubs that are interested in you.”

According to L’Equipe, West Ham and Leicester are fans of Truffert too. Interestingly, a number of Stellar clients are already plying their trade at the King Power Stadium, including Danny Ward, James Justin and Kelechi Iheanacho. Chilwell was a Leicester player, too, before joining Chelsea for £50 million two years ago.

Truffert, like Chelsea’s number three, is an attack-minded, technically-gifted left-back. Two of his three Ligue 1 goals in 2021/22 came during one afternoon against Lyon. In total, Truffert contributed six goals and assists combined as Rennes sealed a European berth.

“He’s a young player who I know very well,” former Rennes coach Julien Stephan said of Truffert. “He has huge potential and a very good left foot.

“He’s very intelligent, has the right mentality and the versatility to play in different positions. He has all the qualities needed to keep progressing and to break through in the near future.”

West Ham’s interest comes on the back of another injury-hit season for Arthur Masuaku. At Leicester, meanwhile, Luke Thomas endured a difficult campaign and Ryan Bertrand failed to make much of an impression.
