Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur need to pay £40 million if they are to sign Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.
The report has claimed that Newcastle would consider selling Saint-Maximin if they get bids of £40 million or more.
However, the Magpies do not expect any offer of £40 million or more for the 25-year-old French winger, described as “pretty unplayable” by Everton manager Frank Lampard in PunditArena on February 9, 2022.
The Daily Mail reported last month that Tottenham are interested in signing Saint-Maximin from Premier League rivals Newcastle in the summer transfer window.
Should Tottenham Hotspur bid £40m+ for Allan Saint-Maximin?
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur should not pay £40 million for Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
Yes, we know that the Frenchman is still only 25, and his performances in the Premier League have been admirable.

The former Nice star is a very good dribbler who is wonderful to watch, but he can be inconsistent as well.
We also think that Saint-Maximin could create more chances.
The winger scored five goals and gave five assists in the Premier League this past season, and scored three goals and provided four assists in 2020-21 as well as in 2019-20.
Saint-Maximin has created 21 big chances in 86 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
