TuttoMercatoWeb claim Stefan de Vrij has rejected the proposal of a new contract from Inter Milan – and now the Nerrazzuri could decide to cash in on the Tottenham and Newcastle target for as little as £9million.

De Vrij, 30, has been a regular for Inter since joining the club four years ago. in 2020-21, he starred under Antonio Conte has Inter did the League and Cup double. He has clocked up 165 appearances for Inter.

Now, the 55-time Netherlands international is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract. Both Tottenham and Newcastle are said to be looking at the former Lazio and Feyenoord centre-back this summer.

They may have just received a boost. TMW say he has rejected a new deal at Inter, after the Nerrazzuri proposed a deal to extend his contract until 2024. He was not happy, and now Inter are open to his sale, for just £9million.

It is a huge boost to both clubs. It means that Inter will now have to cash in on the experienced defender this summer, and are willing to do business for as little as £9million. Spurs and Newcastle should be on red alert.

Spurs have already done business with Inter this summer, albeit for one of their players in Ivan Perisic. The Croatian ace was out of contract and despite Inter’s best efforts, Spurs proved too tempting for the 113-time international.

De Vrij would play alongside a recognisable face in Perisic then, and form a reunion with Conte. Steven Bergwijn is also an international teammate. A move to Spurs seems likely, while Newcastle have the cash.
