Newcastle United are set to bid for Everton striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the coming weeks, according to The Telegraph.

The England international is a wanted man this summer, with Everton’s financial troubles not helping matters, as Football London have also previously reported that Tottenham admire the striker.

It was a season of pure frustration, not just for the Everton this season, but also for their star striker.

Calvert-Lewin only managed 17 Premier League games, scoring five goals, with a long-term toe injury keeping him on the sidelines for months.

Despite that, it hasn’t stopped interested parties from admiring the 25-year-old, who during the 2020/21 campaign hit 15 Premier League goals – as a result, he was next in line behind Tottenham hitman, Harry Kane at Euro 2020.

Nonetheless, with Newcastle’s pockets filling up following their Saudi-led takeover last year, it seems as though they are going to be making their move on Calvert-Lewin.

The Telegraph added that Newcastle, in preparation of putting in a bid for Calvert-Lewin, are hoping the player asks to leave Goodison Park this summer.

CAN EVERTON STOP THEIR RECENT DECLINE?

The Toffees survived relegation to the Championship by the skin of their teeth this season.

And now, under the stewardship of Frank Lampard, they will be hoping for a different chapter to their recent horror story.

But selling Calvert-Lewin, even if they are forced from a financial standpoint, isn’t going to exactly help, with Carlo Ancelotti once labelling the striker’s finishing as ‘cold’ (Sky Sports).

Either way, if Newcastle can manage to lure Calvert-Lewin to St James’ Park, then it would be a serious statement of intent from the club.
