Paul Merson has written on SportsKeeda that he does not think that Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is good enough for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The former Arsenal star has said that he was “shocked” that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp decided to use him in the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid last month.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that Keita has been a failure at Liverpool following his £48 million (BBC Sport) move from RB Leipzig.

While writing on SportsKeeda that Keita is “not good enough”, the pundit added: “Naby Keita’s signing didn’t really do much for me.

“I was a bit shocked when they brought him on in the Champions League final. Liverpool needed a goal, and he’s scored one goal in about a million games.”

Disappointing spell

In our view, Naby Keita’s spell at Liverpool so far has been a disappointment.

The 27-year-old has had injury problems, and that has certainly affected him.

However, when Keita has got his chance, he has not always been at his best.

Thiago, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are the midfield-three in the Liverpool team.

Now, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given Keita chances, but we do not think that he has done exceptionally well in those games.

Having noted that, we have to mention that Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with Keita, which suggests that he is rated highly in the footballing community.

Keita made 14 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League, and five starts and five substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League this past season.
