Portuguese outlet Record claim that Leeds and Benfica are both interested in signing Santos wonderkid Renyer. The attacker has been shining for the Brazilian side’s Under-20 side, currently their top scorer.
Renyer, 18, has scored six goals in three games for Santos’ second string this season. A player that has also broken into Santos’ first string on seven occasions, and even been called up to Brazil’s Under-16 and Under-17 sides.

He has a contract at Santos until 2025. The report states that Benfica are leading the way, but Leeds – among other Premier League clubs – have given ‘good references’ to Santos regarding a move for Renyer.
Leeds are renowned for adding to the Under-23 sides with Victor Orta bringing in the likes of Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Lew Bate from others clubs. They are now important first-team members.
Leeds interested in Renyer: Elland Road a brilliant move for Brazilian
Playing for any club in South America, players dream of a move to Europe where the quality and money is a different level. Santos are of course, renowned for producing top-quality talent – Neymar, for example.
A move to Thorp Arch would be much more beneficial in terms of game time for Renyer. But at Benfica, he would be joining a club that speak his own language and at 18, that might be more suited to the youngster.
Certainly, he would be an improvement on the likes of Stuart McKinstry and Liam McCarron currently in the 23’s set-up. Crysencio Summerville’s future is also in doubt, given his contract ends in 2023.
