Real Madrid are about to close the transfer deal for AS Monaco defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, according to FootMercato
FootMercato are reporting this morning (10:01am, UK time) that Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are out of the race to sign Tchouameni, as newly-crowned European champions are close to finalising a €100 million (£85m) deal, including bonuses, with Monaco for the youngster.
Madrid have been determined to sign the France international defensive midfielder since star forward Kylian Mbappe decided to turn down them and sign a new contract with PSG.
Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid no big blow for Liverpool
In our view, Liverpool potentially missing out on Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid is not a massive blow to the Reds, at least not in the short term.
We know that Liverpool have had contacts with the youngster’s agents for months and really like him.

However, €100 million (£85m) including bonuses for a 22-year-old midfielder is too much to pay for a Liverpool side who are well stocked in that particular department.
Thiago, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson all are at the top of their game at the moment, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also has Naby Keita and Curtis Jones to call up in midfield.
