Rangers should sign Ellis Simms according to Kenny Miller with the former Ibrox ace backing a summer move for the Everton striker.
The Gers reached the Europa League final and fans are excited about the future under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Yet having lost the Scottish Premiership title back to Celtic, Rangers are clearly in need of some reinforcements this summer.
Another striker will likely be a must for Rangers and Ross Wilson will be casting his net far and wide in search of another goalscorer.
Rangers should sign Ellis Simms according to Kenny Miller
Sochi striker Mateo Cassierra is one name being linked but Kenny Miller has backed a move closer to home.
Miller has told the Daily Record that he thinks Rangers should launch a move to sign Everton striker Ellis Simms.
Simms spent time on loan at Hearts last season and clearly did enough to impress former Rangers ace Miller.
Miller believes that Everton won’t want to sell Simms and that he will have loan options in English football.
Yet Miller feels that Simms is about as close as Alfredo Morelos that Rangers will find in terms of style of play.
Miller thinks Simms would score goals for Rangers and could be an ‘interesting’ signing for the Gers this summer.
“The one player in Scotland I’d look at for Rangers is Simms,” said Miller. “I really like the look of him. When you see the trouble Rangers had with strikers towards the end of the season, it’s something I’d consider. I’m sure the kid will have a few suitors down in England. But I’d be surprised if Everton sold him, unless the money was right. It would probably be another loan move.”

“When you look at what he could bring and the way he plays, he might be as close to a Morelos as you’re going to get. He’s not Alfredo Morelos, let’s make that clear. He would have a lot to prove before you put him in that bracket. But the physicality he’s got, the running power and the quality of goals he’s scored in that short period at Hearts – he’s someone I think could be interesting”
“At the age he’s at, playing in that Rangers team – I think he could score goals. But a lot will depend on what happens with Morelos this summer,” he added.
Simms, 21, had spells with Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City before heading to Everton in 2017.
After impressing in Everton’s developmental ranks, Simms headed on loan to Blackpool last season and scored eight goals in 21 games.
Simms joined up with Hearts in January and has continued to shine, bagging five goals in 17 outings under Robbie Neilson.
It’s unclear whether Simms will receive first-team opportunities at Everton next season and Simms may need to think about his long-term future soon.
Simms turns 22 in January and won’t want to keep being loaned out. He will want to settle down and if Rangers are as impressed as Miller, it may be worth attempting a cheeky permanent bid.
