Earlier this year, it was said that Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle are interested in bringing Corentin Tolisso to the Premier League.

The France international – who Bayern Munich paid £35m for – was seemingly playing for a new contract at the Allianz Arena, with his terms expiring in June.

Sadly, it looks as if Julian Nagelsmann has not seen enough to keep Tolisso at the Allianz Arena, as the Bavarians have now announced his exit.

What’s the story?

Well, this represents an interesting opportunity for Jürgen Klopp, Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe.

Newcastle enquired about Tolisso in January, while it was also said that Spurs led the race to sign the 27-year-old on a free transfer.

Elsewhere, it was Calciomercato who claimed the Reds are also keen.

Now, it’s a race to bring Tolisso to the Premier League, although Lyon – his former side – look set to provide competition.

During his time at the Allianz Arena, the Frenchman amassed 118 appearances for Bayern Munich across an injury-hit spell.

Tolisso managed to score 21 goals in those 118 outings, while also providing 15 assists as he won five Bundesliga titles, and also the Champions League.

He also won the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup, as well as the DFB-Pokal on two occasions.

Newcastle and Tottenham should make contact, not Liverpool

In our view, Spurs and the Magpies should contact Tolisso, but Liverpool do not need him.

Klopp already has a number of options in his midfield department, such as Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Thiago, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott.

However, for Conte and Howe, there is the chance to sign a World Cup winner – who a European giant in Bayern Munich spent £35m on – for free.

On the basis that Tolisso can prove his fitness to them, he could well turn out to be the signing of the summer if he rediscovers the form from his Lyon days.

At the age of 27, he certainly has time on his side.

Keep an eye on this situation, as we’d be very surprised if nobody snapped up a player of Tolisso’s quality for free.
