Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are one of a number of Premier League clubs who are keen to add Nottingham Forest star, Brennan Johnson, to their ranks this summer.

But the 16-goal attacker, rather than sign for one of those interested parties next season, will probably now come up against them after Sunday’s development.

Forest ended 23-years of hurt by earning promotion to the Premier League on Sunday when they beat Huddersfield 1-0 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

Give Me Sport have previously stated that Spurs, Everton, Newcastle and Leeds all want to sign the £20-million rated star.

But, Forest’s hand just got stronger because they are now amongst the big boys and they can now afford to turn away any big offers for the 21-year-old.

It’s a body blow to the likes of Spurs and Everton, but it will be interesting to see if they now look elsewhere.

Spurs are seemingly closing in on the signing of Ivan Perisic, so they are already adding depth to their Champions League squad for next season.

Of course, those from north London will be aware that more will be needed because there will be a different level of pressure and expectations on their squad.

As for Everton, they were probably looking for that cheap, yet long-term option given that they can’t splash the cash now as they have done over the years.

Well, the price for Johnson has gone up a few, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Merseyside giants also look elsewhere.

All in all, the biggest winners of all of this are Forest, who are not just back in the big time, but they can also show off some of their talented stars on the biggest stage.
