After a top-four finish and a £150m injection into the club, the future is looking very bright for Tottenham, with Antonio Conte also close to making his first signing of the summer in Ivan Perisic.
The Croatian international has rejected a new contract with Inter Milan and will now sign for Tottenham on a two-year deal, with Perisic likely to be the first of many big-name signs for the Spurs this summer under Conte.
Whether or not this heavy spending will work out or not is another question entirely, yet for Tottenham fans, they are just happy that there is a bright future ahead of them for the first time since the peak years of Mauricio Pochettino.
Indeed, with Conte a fan of signing familiar players, here are five former names managed by the Italian who could be recruited by Tottenham this summer that would improve the overall quality of the squad.
Stefan de Vrij

Centre-back looks to be a big area Conte will focus on improving this summer, and if Tottenham are to build from their signing of Perisic, Stefan de Vrij would be an outstanding second option to take from Inter Milan.
The Netherlands international is already reportedly on Tottenham’s radar, and with De Vrij’s contract expiring next summer, Spurs could land a potential bargain if Inter fails to extend the defender’s deal beyond 2023, with north London and Conte an alluring prospect for the centre-back.
Antonio Candreva

It really wouldn’t be a Conte transfer window if the Italian wasn’t signing some random veteran from Serie A, and whilst Perisic might be 33-years-old, 35-year-old Antonio Candreva could be another option Tottenham sign this summer.
Despite his age, the former Italian international is off coming off one of his best seasons in years, with the versatile winger bagging an impressive seven goals and 13 assists for Sampdoria, who could be tempted into selling the attacker should Tottenham come in with a decent-sized offer.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek

From heroes in Italy to something a bit closer to home, Ruben Loftus-Cheek featured for Conte during Chelsea’s 2017 Premier League title win, and with the midfielder open to leaving west London this summer, Tottenham could be an option for the 26-year-old.
An England international who has played a decent amount for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season, Loftus-Cheek would be a solid option for Tottenham in central midfield, another position Conte is reportedly looking to improve this summer, and the Chelsea academy graduate could be a smart signing for Spurs.
Christian Eriksen

A signing many Tottenham fans want to see this summer, it’s easy to forget that Conte was the one who brought Christian Eriksen to Inter from Spurs back in January 2020, with the Danish international now back in the Premier League with Brentford.
After impressing with the Bees in the second half of this season, Eriksen is now being linked with a big move this summer, and what better club to transfer to than Tottenham, where the Danish international is a modern-day legend and would be welcomed back with open arms.
Michy Batshuayi

Another Chelsea star who could prove useful for Tottenham is Michy Batshuayi, who famously scored the winning goal for Conte’s Blues to secure the Premier League title five years ago against West Bromwich Albion.
Like Loftus-Cheek, the Belgian international is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, and with Batshuayi coming off the back of a very productive loan spell at Besiktas, the striker could be a strong backup for Harry Kane, another position Conte has to get right this summer.
