It could have been very different for Bernardo Silva this season because, last summer, there were rumours circulating that Arsenal wanted to sign the Manchester City star.
Arsenal not being in Europe didn’t help matters, but it was understandable why they were targeting Silva given that they had Mikel Arteta in the dugout, as reported by Football London.
But, whilst Silva was unhappy with his game time at the Etihad last term, it has all turned on its head this time around.
The 27-year-old has had an outstanding campaign in Manchester City colours and helped them win a fourth Premier League crown in five seasons.
Alan Shearer named the ‘magnificent’ one-touch footballer in his Premier League Team of the Season and explained on the PL’s official website what he likes about the player.
“On the other side, I am going for Bernardo Silva,” said Shearer. “Trickery, skill, accuracy and attitude.
“All of those things. Not the biggest of guys. But he has the heart of a lion. He has been magnificent again in Manchester City’s team.”

ARSENAL NOW INTERESTED IN ANOTHER MANCHESTER CITY MIDFIELDER
Given how Pep Guardiola chops and changes things at the Etihad, there is always a star name that isn’t getting the minutes he probably wants.
Well, Ilkay Gundogan is that man now and there are suggestions, from Fabrizio Romano, that Arsenal are keen on adding the German to their ranks.
Arsenal have a bit more power now in that they are back in Europe, but it’s Europa League football and not the elite Champions League level.
Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Arsenal find life tough in trying to lure Gundogan to the Emirates in the summer.
