Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are ready to pay €50 million (£42.50 million) for Everton target and Barcelona midfielder Gavi, according to Sport.

Sport have reported that Liverpool are keen on signing Gavi from Barcelona in the summer transfer window and are willing to pay his release clause of €50 million (£42.50 million).

Gavi wants to stay at Barcelona, but there is no agreement over a new deal, according to the report.

Earlier this month, AS reported that Everton are interested in Gavi, and so are Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool’s Gavi stance blow for Everton

In our view, Everton were always going to struggle to sign Gavi, and now Liverpool reportedly willing to make their move makes it even harder.

We do not think that Gavi is going to leave Barcelona for an Everton side that narrowly avoided relegated to the Championship.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich are comparable clubs to Barcelona, and we think that Gavi could be tempted to move to the Reds or the Bavarian giants.

Gavi, 17, has already established himself as an important player for Barcelona.

The teenager made 28 starts and six substitute appearances in La Liga this season.

The midfielder scored two goals and gave five assists in those matches.

Gavi also made four starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League and two starts and three substitute appearances in the Europa League this campaign.
