According to The Telegraph, Moussa Diaby is very close to the top of Newcastle’s list of transfer targets heading into the summer transfer window.
It’s not hard to figure out just why Newcastle are so keen on a move for Diaby.
Diaby, has been on fire for Bayer Leverkusen this term. The winger has been labelled as ‘amazing’, and that is a very apt description. He’s made 37 league appearances, contributing to 27 goals – scoring 16 and assisting 11, and at the age of just 22, he still has plenty of room to grow.
Sadly for the Magpies, this good form probably means that he won’t come cheaply.
Bayer Leverkusen are under no pressure to sell the winger, with his contract expiring in 2025, but, as we all know, Newcastle have the financial might to twist the arm of any team in Europe.
Diaby primarily plays off of the left, and if he joins the Magpies it will be interesting to see how he is utilised in the same team as Allan Saint-Maximin.
The pair of young Frenchmen may strike up an incredible partnership at St James’ Park next season, and with both men possessing incredible skill and pace, the Magpies may soon be one of the most frightening and exciting attacking outfits in the country.
Of course, whether or not Newcastle can pry Diaby out of the Bundesliga remains to be seen, but with the winger occupying a spot high on Newcastle’s list of targets, it may not be long before we see him playing in black and white.
