Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio has been discussing Mohamed Salah after his remarkable campaign for Liverpool.
Salah has been in ridiculous form for the Reds this season. He’s won both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award, but unfortunately for Salah, that’s not enough for Antonio to consider him as his Player of the Year.
The West Ham star says that Salah is a remarkable player, labelling him as an ‘absolute joke’ of a talent, but according to the striker, Heung-Min Son has had a better season.
What’s been said?
“Obviously, Mo Salah is an absolute joke, for him to be on 100 goals after not being in the Premier League for that long, what he has done is a massive achievement and he is absolutely quality. You can’t take that away from him, but if I had to pick one player it would be Son and then I’d have Salah just behind him as an attacking player,” Antonio said.

Salah vs Son
Salah or Son, who should be the Player of the Year?
Well, it’s certainly one that’s up for debate. On one hand, Salah has won the two major individual goal contribution awards this season, but on the other hand, Son has matched Salah’s goal tally without scoring a single penalty while playing in what is a worse side.
In our view, you can’t look past Salah. He’s scored vital goals at vital moments, and he may well be the defining factor in Liverpool winning a treble, while Tottenham have gone yet another season without a trophy.
Both players can be incredibly proud of what they have achieved this season, and no matter who takes home the PFA Player of the Year award, the pair can look back on 2022/23 as one of the greatest campaigns of their respectively brilliant careers.
