Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Federico Dimarco from Inter Milan in the summer transfer window, according to TMW.

TMW have reported that Arsenal have made contact regarding a move for Dimarco and have asked about him.

The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Inter could sell the Italian left-back if they are offered €20-€25 million (£16.99-£21.24m).

The Sun have also reported that Arsenal want to sign the 24-year-old left-foot and want at least £20 million as transfer fee for him.

Arsenal target Federico Dimarco is highly rated

In our view, signing a left-back to play second fiddle to Kieran Tierney for £21 million is too expensive, especially when Arsenal paid £25 million for the Scotland international.

Yes, we know that Tierney has had injury problems, but Arsenal also have another left-back in their squad – Nuno Tavares.

Tavares has not done particularly well for the Gunners, but unless they can offload him, there is no point in paying £21 million for another left-back.

However, we should also consider the quality that Dimarco possesses.

Former Inter and Italy international defender Daniele Adani said about Dimarco in February 2021, as quoted in SempreInter: “He’s a modern full-back, who plays with quality and has a great left foot.”

Dimarco has been at Inter since 2018 and has had two loan spells away from the former Italian champions since then.

The left-back is 24 now, and there is still enough time for him to improve and get better.

Dimarco made 13 starts and 19 substitute appearances in Serie A for Inter this season

The defender scored two goals and two assists in those matches.
