Liverpool want Aurelien Tchouameni and the Real Madrid-linked Monaco star admits to CNN Sport that he is a big fan of Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League runners-up.
Anyone who dares to describe Tchouameni as ‘just another defensive midfielder’ clearly hasn’t been paying attention.
Didn’t you not see the way he dominated Spain during France’s UEFA Nations League triumph last year, earning some rather gushing praise from Paul Pogba?
Or the way Tchouameni single-handedly dragged Monaco to a vital 2-1 win over Lille a couple of weeks ago, capping a magisterial Man of the Match performance a pair of long-range wondergoals that even Steven Gerrard would have been proud of.
In fact, Tchouameni’s emergence as a player of truly elite-level potential has been such that the pride of the Principality appears to have his pick of the European superclubs this summer.
Does he choose Liverpool or Real Madrid? One Champions League finalist, or the other?

“I like both,” the former Bordeaux youngster said, rather diplomatically, when asked whether he has a presence between Liverpool or Los Blancos.
“I can watch Spanish games and English games. (La Liga) is different to play than England but, at the end of the day, for me, it’s just a matter of adaptation.
“I’m an ambitious person. Every time I do something, I just want to win.”
Oh to have such a choice. Tchouameni must feel like a ravenous Rottweiler with between a steaming steak pie on one plate and a medium-raw steak on the other.

Between them, the two clubs have conquered the continent 19 times in total, and the number will become a round 20 in Paris this Saturday night.

According to RMC Sport, the 22-year-old enforcer is leaning towards Madrid over Merseyside. Real Madrid are offering him a five-year deal, while stumping up around £68 million plus bonuses.
But who knows, should Liverpool triumph in the French capital, perhaps Tchouameni will change his mind. He has already agreed personal terms with the Reds after all, according to 90Min.
