Wolverhampton Wanderers are not happy after losing out to Premier League rivals Arsenal for the signing of Sao Paulo winger Marquinhos, Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola says on his YouTube channel.
As far as Marquinhos is concerned, it seems drama is never very far away.
What’s more, Tricolor coach Rogerio Ceni is understood to be ‘very angry’ at the prospect of losing one of the most exciting young forwards in South America for such a paltry fee.
Sao Paulo are not the only club feeling rather bitter about the whole situation either. Wolves held talks with Marquinhos before he arrived in England to undergo a medical at Arsenal, and the men from Molineux obviously feel that they have missed out unfairly (The Athletic).
Marquinhos is joining Arsenal rather than Wolves
“The English club claims that Marquinhos signed a pre-contract (with them),” Nicola says, translated by Arq Tricolor.
“By transferring to Arsenal, he would be in breach of the agreement with Wolverhampton. In fact, a Brazilian law firm has already been called to file a complaint and open a formal process against the Sao Paulo striker.”

According to Nicola, there is no danger of Marquinhos’ cut-price switch to the Emirates Stadium falling through.
“I wanted to know from the Tricolor if there was a possibility that the deal could collapse but (a spokesman on behalf of the club) assured me that everything is ok and that, although Arsenal has not yet made the payment, there have already been legal guarantees that the agreement will be sealed,” he adds.

“Marquinhos has already undergone medical examinations. (He) will be unveiled in the coming days at the London club.”
This already feels like a story that could run and run for weeks to come.
