The Yorkshire Evening Post claim Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has held talks with defender Cody Drameh to see where his head is at. The youngster has spent the second half of the 21-22 campaign on loan at Cardiff City.

Drameh, 20, left Leeds on loan in January to join Championship outfit Cardiff despite breaking into the first team and playing five times in the first half of 21-22. A move that Marcelo Bielsa did not want him to make.

But it has since paid off. Drameh starred for Cardiff, playing 22 times – winning nine games, keeping five clean sheets and laying on three assists. He returns to Leeds with his stock higher than ever at Elland Road.

Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling are both likely to be sidelined when the new season comes around, opening the door for Drameh. The England Under-21 star has two years remaining on his contract at Elland Road.

Now, it appears Marsch has opted to diffuse any ill-feeling between Drameh and the club by holding talks with a player branded “phenomenal” by Cardiff boss and ex-Leeds striker Steve Morison. It has worked.

Marsch held Leeds talks with Drameh: Defender now crucial

It is claimed that Drameh is now ready to ‘stake his claim’ at Elland Road regardless of whether Ayling or Dallas are injured, next season. Marsch has kept Leeds up. It is clear he is well-liked at Elland Road, more so than ever.

Strangely, Drameh has now become crucial at Leeds – even though he has only played five times. That could all change, however, if Leeds sign a right-back. Barcelona’s Sergino Dest is said to be a target for the Yorkshire outfit.
