Adnan Januzaj is now a free agent just months after being linked with West Ham United – which would have seen him reunite with David Moyes.
Januzaj was supposed to become a superstar following his breakthrough at Manchester United.
The Belgian teenager burst onto the scene in 2013 by scoring twice in his first Premier League start for United at the age of just 18.
Approaching 10 years on, that still feels like the highest point of Januzaj’s career.
Loan spells with Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland didn’t work out and Januzaj left United for Real Sociedad in 2017 having only made 50 appearances for the club.
Januzaj has been trying to rebuild his career in Spain but now finds himself without a club.
Adnan Januzaj is now a free agent
On Monday, Real Sociedad confirmed that both Nacho Monreal and Januzaj have been released at the end of their contracts.
Januzaj is now 27 and leaves having notched 23 goals and 21 assists in 168 games for Sociedad.
Januzaj may be an appealing free agent even if he hasn’t lived up to his potential.
One club who may take a look at Januzaj is West Ham.
Calciomercato reported in December that West Ham were looking towards Januzaj as a potential signing.

The key here is Januzaj’s relationship with West Ham boss David Moyes.
Moyes was United boss when Januzaj burst onto the scene and they then reunited when Moyes became Sunderland boss.
Januzaj has since praised Moyes and it seems that the pair have enjoyed a strong relationship over the years.
Andriy Yarmolenko looks set to leave West Ham this summer and the Hammers would surely want another left-footed winger as cover and competition for Jarrod Bowen.
Januzaj fits the bill perfectly and seeing Moyes reunite with the winger once again maybe wouldn’t be a huge shock this summer.
