Speaking on his podcast, Gary Neville has been discussing Antonio Conte’s Tottenham future and the north London derby.
Conte has been consistently linked with a move away from Tottenham in recent weeks, but after securing Champions League qualification with Spurs, he may well be sticking around in north London.
However, Neville believes that Conte would have stayed at Tottenham even if they’d finished fifth, stating that the Italian would have been convinced to remain at the club after experiencing the atmosphere during the north London derby.
What’s been said?
Neville spoke about Conte.
“We were at the north London derby 10 days ago, and even if Arsenal had beaten Newcastle, I still think Antonio Conte would have stayed because of what he experienced that night. Where are you going to get that competitive element or these atmospheres? Where are you going to get this in Europe at this moment in time? You’re not,” Neville said.

Place to be
Neville is absolutely right, the Premier League is the place to be right now if you want to experience the best atmospheres and competition in football right now.
Serie A simply can’t attract the superstars in the same way the Premier League can, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga are one-horse races, while La Liga is having its own transitional period after the end of the Lionel Messi-era.
The Premier League has now established itself as the greatest and most competitive league on the planet, and with Conte loving this game so much, there really isn’t anywhere else for him to go.
With big rivalries, the best players, incredible fans and the best facilities money can buy, English football is offering more than any other country right now.
We’d be very shocked if Conte decided to ditch the Premier League this summer.
