According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa are monitoring Sven Botman ahead of the summer transfer window.
It’s widely been reported that Botman will be joining AC Milan this summer, but the Midlands club are keeping an eye on the Dutch centre-back just in case that deal falls through.
However, as you may imagine, Villa aren’t the only English side in for Botman.
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the Lille star for months at this point, and Amanda Staveley has even gone on the record to claim that the defender wants to move to St James’ Park.
Botman may be attracted to a move to Tyneside, but it has to be said that a move to Villa Park is just as alluring.
Villa have been fantastic since the arrival of Steven Gerrard at the club, and they’re already showing all sorts of ambition in the transfer market, securing the permanent signing of Philippe Coutinho and the free transfer of Boubacar Kamara already.
Botman has a number of options on the table. A move to Milan would give him the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, but Villa and Newcastle certainly represent two of the most exciting projects in the Premier League right now.
Whether or not Villa manage to pull this one off remains to be seen, but if the move to San Siro falls through for Botman, then this transfer could be on the cards.
Keep an eye on Botman in the coming weeks.
