Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to make a claim about Arsenal and Youri Tielemans, as the Gunners and Tottenham target the Premier League star.

What’s the story?

Well, the reliable journalist believes Mikel Arteta is “more than interested” in bringing the Belgian to the Emirates Stadium.

Romano believes Arsenal have already opened talks with Leicester over a deal for the £35m man, who is entering the final 12 months of his contract at the King Power Stadium.

Elsewhere, the Italian added that up to six clubs are interested in signing Tielemans, with Tottenham also involved in the race for his signature.

Crucially, Romano believes the 25-year-old is set to leave Leicester, after three years in the Midlands.

In 50 appearances this season, Tielemans scored seven goals, while also providing five assists.

The Leicester No.8 also won the Goal of the Season award at the King Power Stadium, for his stunning chip in the 4-2 win over Manchester United back in October.

Arsenal could beat Tottenham to a wonderful opportunity

In our view, Arsenal could soon beat their bitter rivals Tottenham to a very attractive opportunity in the market.

There aren’t many better midfielders than Tielemans in the Premier League, nor are there many players of his quality with 12 months remaining on their contracts.

Due to his contract situation, the Telegraph believe Leicester could accept offers of just £25m for Tielemans, which would be a bargain for a player of his quality.

Furthermore, Arsenal desperately need additions in the central midfield department, especially with the Europa League to come next season.

Mikel Arteta only has Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Martin Ødegaard, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Thomas Partey to choose from, which simply isn’t enough quality depth.

Keep an eye on this interesting saga, as it seems very likely that Tielemans will be leaving Leicester this summer.
