Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title by just a point to Manchester City, who have won the championship for the second season in a row.

Alan Shearer on Liverpool v Manchester City

Shearer said about Liverpool on Match of the Day on BBC One on Sunday: “One small thing you could say that they could have improved on is their record against the top four.

“Played six, they haven’t won any of their games, they didn’t lose any either, but that’s a tiny detail that they can look back on and say, ‘Those are the three teams not winning a game’.”

Excellent Premier League season

In our opinion, Liverpool have had a wonderful season and should be proud of their achievement.

The Reds were in with a chance until the final minutes of the season.

That is simply remarkable.

Yes, of course, there is always room for improvement, but that Manchester City could only finish just a point ahead of Liverpool shows that the gap between these two teams is not much.
