Leeds United are working to sign an unnamed striker from a Premier League club after achieving survival from relegation on Sunday afternoon.

Leeds went into the final day of the Premier League season occupying the final relegation spot.

The Whites were level on points with Burnley but had much worse goal difference, meaning they needed a positive result at Brentford.

Raphinha had them ahead from the penalty spot and whilst Sergi Canos threatened to put Leeds back in trouble, Jack Harrison secured safety with a late winner.

Add in that Burnley lost 2-1 to Newcastle United and Leeds can now look forward to another season in the Premier League.

New recruits are vital though and not only is Red Bull Salzburg’s Brenden Aaronson coming in, but potentially a new striker too.

Leeds United are working to sign an unnamed striker

The Athletic report that Leeds have agreed a fee to sign Red Bull Salzburg playmaker Brenden Aaronson after missing out in January.

It’s added that Leeds are also working to sign Aberdeen right back Calvin Ramsay.

The problem for Leeds there is that Liverpool are believed to be close to signing Ramsay for £4million.

The other claim is that Leeds are trying to sign a mystery Premier League striker this summer.

Patrick Bamford’s injury problems this season have exposed Leeds’ lack of quality striking options in his place.

Victor Orta is now working on an incoming signing but just who could Leeds lure to Elland Road?

Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino rejected a move to Leeds in January. Yet his former Red Bull Salzburg boss Jesse Marsch is now in charge at Leeds and could help lure the Japanese international.

Minamino doesn’t really fit the bill as a ‘centre forward’ though and is more of a versatile attacker who can play across the front line.

Minamino needs to leave Liverpool for first-team action and Leeds could be a great route to playing again.

The other option we have come up with is Southampton forward Che Adams.

Orta wanted to sign Adams on loan from Southampton back in January 2020 but the Saints changed their mind about a deal.

Adams, 25, managed seven goals in 30 Premier League games this season and Leeds may have kept him on their radar for this summer.

Adams is more of a centre forward than Minamino but whether Southampton would be willing to sell remains to be seen.
