Andy Gray has claimed that Liverpool won’t beat Manchester City to the Premier League title, after claims of a possible Diogo Jota ‘bonus’ to Wolves emerged.
The former striker was talking to Richards Keys about how Liverpool owe Wolves ‘another big chunk’ of money if they beat Man City to the Premier League title on Sunday.
After 37 gruelling, hard-hitting and drama-filled matches, the title race has come down to the final day of the season.
The Reds need Aston Villa to get a result and at the Etihad – and if they beat Wolves – it would then crown them champions.
But, when both Keys and Gray were talking about that possible Jota ‘bonus’ on their podcast, the former Everton made shared that he doesn’t think the title will be headed towards Merseyside, anyway.
“Integrity fears over Wolves owed Jota bonus if Liverpool win the title,” repeated Keys from an English newspaper article.
Gray responded: “You see, there’s your conspiracy theory.”
Keys added:” It’s not me. This is a piece by Matt Hughes, the chief sports correspondent at the Mail. He’s just pointing out that Wolves (if they get beat, they get a nice big bonus).
“They only put £4 million down for Jota. According to Matt, they have since been paid a further £13 million. This has to be one of the bargains.
“But he has said, if they go on to win, then another big chunk will be headed their way if they win the title.
Gray then added: “Oh dear, no. Well, I don’t think they will anyway. But maybe (Steven Gerrard has a ghost to exercise). It does happen in sport, a lot.”

FAIRY-TALE STORY AFTER FAIRY-TALE STORY COULD BE WRITTEN
From Steven Gerrard to Jack Grealish, one is a boyhood Liverpool fan who can do his old club a favour.
Whilst the other is a boyhood Aston Villa fan, and less than 12 months after his record-breaking £100 million transfer, he could win the Premier League title in front of his old supporters.
So many stories could be written today, but whatever happens, there will be many nervous faces across Manchester and Liverpool.
In truth, on a normal day, this Man City side should blow Villa away, but as those at the Etihad know too well, the final day can throw up some pretty ridiculous moments.
