Wolverhampton Wanderers want to sign ‘dynamic’ player from Rangers

Wolverhampton Wanderers are among the clubs interested in signing Calvin Bassey from Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record.

The report has claimed that Wolves, Fulham, Brentford and Aston Villa all are keen on signing Rangers defender Bassey this summer.

Rangers will hold out for a club-record fee for the 22-year-old, who can operate as a left-back or as a centre-back and was described as “a strong and dynamic athlete who is very much the modern day full back” by then Gers manager Steven Gerrard – now the Villa boss – on the Ibrox club’s official website in June 2020.

The chance to play for an ambitious Premier League club could be very tempting for the 22-year-old Nigeria international defender.

Bassey has given two assists in 26 Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers this season.

The Rangers no. 3 made 12 starts and two substitute appearances in the Europa League for the Ibrox club this campaign.
