James Tarkowski shared on Sky Sports – as per Leeds Live – on Thursday he thinks Burnley have the tools to survive, more so than Leeds. Tarkowski excelled in defence as the Clarets secured a crucial point against Aston Villa.
Everton’s comeback win over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Thursday means that the Toffees are safe. Entering the final day of the season, it is a two-way shootout between Burnley and Leeds – with Leeds currently 18th.
Burnley’s much superior goal difference means that Leeds will have to better Mike Jackson’s side in terms of result this weekend. Burnley host Newcastle at Turf Moor, while Leeds travel to London to take on Brentford.
Speaking after his side’s 1-1 draw with Villa, Tarkowski underlined the traits of the Burnley side that he suggested Leeds lack. He thinks Burnley have the experience, the quality and the morale to finish above Leeds.
“We have got the experience, the quality, the knowhow, and the team spirit. It has been a difficult season for us and to get ourselves into a position from where we were we have done brilliant, but nothing is done yet.”
Tarkowski shares what Burnley have that Leeds don’t, in scrap
Burnley certainly have the experience and know how of a fight against relegation. But Leeds also have plenty of quality, and plenty of team ethic in the fight against the drop. Indeed, Leeds have better in the final third.
Of all the attackers at both clubs, Raphinha is certainly the best. Kalvin Phillips is the best midfielder. What Burnley have is a very sturdy defence, and a goalkeeper in stunning form, in Nick Pope. That might be enough.
