Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Pierluigi Gollini that he does not need him for next season, according to The Sun.

Antonio Conte’s reported stance on Tottenham’s Pierluigi Gollini

The Sun have reported that Tottenham boss Conte wants to sign a new goalkeeper as a back-up to Hugo Lloris.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan tactician is reportedly eyeing a move for Sam Johnstone, who is out of contract at West Bromwich Albion this summer.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Tottenham boss Conte has told Gollini that he will not be back at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

The 27-year-old Italy international goalkeeper joined Tottenham on loan from Atalanta in the summer of 2021.

Gollini is scheduled to return to Atalanta this summer.

Disappointing loan spell

In our opinion, it has been a disappointing loan spell for Pierluigi Gollini at Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.

The former Aston Villa goalkeeper was expected to really challenge Lloris for the spot between the posts, but he has failed to do so.

Gollini made three appearances in the Carabao Cup, one in the FA Cup, and four in the Conference League for Tottenham this campaign.

The Italian has not played at all in the Premier League this campaign.
