The Daily Express journalist, Ryan Taylor, has told GiveMeSport that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are set to sign Marquinhos from Sao Paulo, and that the Gunners could announce the transfer in the next two days.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Marquinhos will become an Arsenal player imminently, and that it is just a matter of getting his work permit sorted.

Taylor has added that Arsenal could even announce the arrival of the 19-year-old Brazilian winger from Sao Paulo in the next two days.

Goal had earlier reported that Marquinhos travelled to London on Thursday to complete a medical.

Marquinhos to Arsenal happening?

Taylor told GiveMeSport: “Marquinhos will happen, that’s pretty much done, it’s just a case of the fact that he needs to sort a work permit.

“From my information, it was that Arsenal were going to announce that in the coming weeks, it could even be the next couple of days, just like the agreement.”

One for the future

In our opinion, Marquinhos would be a player for the future for Arsenal and not for the short term.

After all, the Brazilian is only 19.

Marquinhos will take a while to get used to the way Arsenal play and to the Premier League.

We should not be surprised if Arsenal decide to keep the teenager in the Under-23 side for the next one or two years.

In our view, Marquinhos should not get impatient if he has to spend the first one or two years of his Arsenal career away from the first team.

It would help him in the long run.
