Jamie Carragher has responded on Twitter after Everton star Richarlison told the Liverpool legend he does not respect him. Carragher accused the Brazilian of diving, during last month’s Merseyside derby at Anfield.

Richarlison netted his tenth Premier League goal of the season on Thursday night as Everton produced a stunning comeback against Palace. The 3-2 win secured Premier League safety, prompting a pitch invasion at full-time.

Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew gave Palace a 2-0, half-time lead. But Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dom Calvert-Lewin sent the Everton crowd into bedlam. Four points separates Everton from the drop zone.

Carragher accused Richarlison of diving during Liverpool’s 2-0 win in May during commentary, as per the Liverpool Echo. Richarlison, clearly enjoying the celebrations of survival, Tweeted the Liverpool legend at 1.37AM.

Carragher responded to Richarlison’s attack on Twitter on Friday morning. He defused the situation, stating he actually likes Richarlison’s response and that if Twitter was around during his career, he would have done similar.

Carragher replies to Everton star Richarlison: Who is in the right?

The comments made by Carragher last month were probably harsh. There is contact on the Brazilian and he is within his rights to go down. So, it is only fair that will have aggrieved the Everton star on Twitter.

But Carragher’s response to Richarlison shows class. It shows decency and while many might have expected Carragher to defend himself, he is above that. A brilliant night for Everton, and ultimately, deserved.
