This Sunday, Liverpool could win their second Premier League title, although it all depends on Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Steven Gerrard must take points from Pep Guardiola, while Jürgen Klopp must ensure he beats Wolves, if the Reds are to win the Premier League.

However, those three aren’t the only managers who could have a say in the matter.

What’s the story?

Well, in a roundabout way, Rafa Benitez could also play a huge part in the Premier League title race this Sunday.

Before he was sacked by Everton in January, the Spaniard fell out with Lucas Digne – who was arguably the best player at Goodison Park.

Eventually, Benitez sold the Frenchman to Aston Villa, where he will now line up against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Now, if Digne goes on to score – or assist – the goal which takes points off Manchester City, it would be a gift for Liverpool from Benitez, even 12 years on from the day he left Anfield.

Of course, you might argue that this is an unrealistic scenario, as Digne is a left-back, after all.

However, the 28-year-old is very attack minded, and also possesses exquisite technical skills which make him a threat from freekicks.

Therefore, anything is possible in Manchester this Sunday.

Rafa Benitez could enhance Liverpool legacy

Benitez is already loved at Liverpool, although he could enhance his reputation at Anfield even more depending on what happens this Sunday.

Aside from the title race, Everton could suffer relegation to the Championship, which would largely be the fault of Benitez.

Before he was replaced by Frank Lampard, the 62-year-old won just five of his 19 Premier League games in charge of the Toffees, picking up 19 points in total.

If Benitez is involved in a season where Liverpool win the Premier League, and their bitter rivals are relegated, it would surely make the Spaniard even more popular at Anfield.

Only time will tell what happens on Sunday, although it’s sure to be a thrilling finale in the Premier League.
